Guided tours of the tug will take place throughout the open days, conducted by original crew members who worked on the tug when it was operated by William Watkins (up to 1970). Their enthusiasm is infectious, and the one-time ships cook/deckhand Mike Houckham and friends are almost guaranteed to provide an informative and fun tour of Britain’s last ocean-going steam tug.
If you can’t make a weekend, Mike Houckham is also able to organise for small groups to come aboard each Tuesday and Thursday, and he can probably even be persuaded to break-off from work chipping and painting to give you a personalised tour..! Mike can be reached, in advance, on 07922 162363.
Admission to the tug is Adults £2.50 / Children £1.00 – and proceeds will help us continue with the restoration work…!
